An Eventful Season
Fall is a time when Quebec’s geospatial ecosystem is running at full tilt! From conferences and trade shows to workshops and exhibitions, it’s impossible to be bored!
Several members of K2 Geospatial’s team took advantage of the rich diversity of exciting events offered during the season.
Annual convention of the Fédération québécoise des municipalités
With over 3,000 attendees, the annual convention of the Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) was a major event once again this year.
Members of K2 Geospatial’s team took part in this annual gathering. According to the convention’s president, the event was an excellent opportunity to address key issues facing municipal decision-makers and to identify priorities for action. This was the focus of the activities and discussions that took place during these three busy days.
In addition, the Salon affaires municipales offered exhibitors and conventioneers many networking opportunities.
Sommet IDS in Québec City
The Sommet sur les infrastructures de données spatiales (Sommet IDS). took place as part of the Semaine de la géomatique in Québec City. K2’s president and CEO attended the fourth edition of this summit organized by the Canadian Council on Geomatics, l’Open Geospatial Consortium et le Quebec Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Among other objectives, the summit brought people together to discuss the best ways for sharing geospatial data and making it more accessible. The theme of the 2019 edition of the summit, “Smart Cities and Territories,” set the tone for all of the presentations, making the event a resounding success.
Smart cities and the digital transformation of organizations
Among the geomatic events that took place in Quebec this fall was a new meetup titled Villes intelligentes et transformation numérique des organisations. This get-together served as a great way to kick off the season and exchange ideas about current and exciting topics.
During this evening, two members of K2’s team led a presentation and a discussion about JMap and interoperability in support of Smart Cities.
2019 conference of the Réseau de l’informatique municipale du Québec
The 2019 conference of the Réseau de l’informatique municipale du Québec (RIMQ) was held under the following theme: Interoperability and collaboration: the keys to the future. K2’s team was in attendance.
During this conference, actors from many different backgrounds reminded attendees that beyond the key points identified for the evolution of IT, each team project is part of a vast collective movement that aims to improve the delivery of services to citizens.
