JMap 7 Hanoï is now available. This new version of JMap 7 contains new features and enhancements that users and administrators are sure to appreciate. Here’s an overview of what’s changed in JMap 7 Hanoï.


Usage statistics

This new feature allows JMap administrators to view statistics regarding the use of JMap projects. For instance, you can query the statistics to find out how many times a JMap project was opened by users over a selected period of time. You can also find out how many times each layer of a project was viewed by users. This data will allow you to better understand the needs and habits of users.

You can enable usage statistics in the project configuration window.

The statistics section can be accessed via the menu in the Status section of JMap Server. Once you are in the statistics section, you can search for the statistics of projects, layers or public contexts and select a specific period of time. All the data is aggregated by month. The statistics displayed can be exported in PDF or Excel formats.

Importing layers

It is now possible to import layers one by one from an export of JMap projects. This new feature makes it easier to transition layers from a test server to a production server, for instance. All the dependencies of the imported layer (data source, database, etc.) can also be imported or connected to existing resources.



Major optimization

We have significantly improved the method to calculate the statistics of layer attributes. As a reminder, these statistics (minimum and maximum value, average, standard deviation, unique values) are required to create layer thematics. When updating a spatial data source, statistics are automatically calculated for each attribute of each layer linked to that data source. In previous versions, these calculations could take a long time, particularly when a layer had many attributes or when several layers were linked to the same data source. This could take anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours! In JMap 7 Hanoï, we have improved calculation times by up to 10,000 per cent (which is 100 times faster)!


Annotation tools

We have made a few improvements to the new annotation tools in JMap Web. For instance, text annotations are now independent of the map scale. In other words, text entered on the map will now be in a size proportional to the rest of the map, regardless of the map’s scale. Also, it is now possible to erase several annotations simultaneously.
